The Manhattan Project :: essays research papers
The Manhattan Project à à à à à Nuclear research all started when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, and the United States entered into World War II. When the United States realized that Germany attempted to build an atomic bomb, Americans began to concentrate on their research about creating an atomic bomb more heavily. President Franklin D. Roosevelt created the Manhattan Project, which included a group of top scientists, under General Leslie R. Groves, who worked around the clock to try to develop an atomic bomb within three years (Bondi 493). The Americans and the British combined their efforts to research the development of the bomb and created plants and factories to work in (ââ¬Å"The Atomic Bombâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ 257). They created plants for three separate processes: electromagnetic, gaseous diffusion, and thermal diffusion. These plants helped create the plutonium and uranium 235 needed to manufacture the atomic bomb (Gerdes 142). The secrecy of the Manhattan Project was essential in order to develop the atomic bombs to end World War II. The United States and Great Britain kept the development of the atomic bomb a secret (Bondi 493). In order to keep the secret, Groves spread the work out between laboratories so that the people working on the bomb could not figure out they were manufacturing. The members of the Manhattan Project asked the scientists questions about the bomb, and they gave answers back, but they did not know what the responses were for. The project consisted of so many restrictions for the employees in order to keep the secrecy of the project. They could not hold private conversations about the material they were working on because after awhile, people might have been able to put it together and determine that they were creating a bomb. Employees worked on tasks that had nothing to do with what the others around them were doing. Even the officials on the War Production Board remained unaware of the bomb (ââ¬Å"The Atomic Bombâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ 258). As with everything, problems occurred during the development process. The plutonium needed for the bombs was only in microscopic sizes, which was very difficult to handle. Plutoniumââ¬â¢s properties were unknown, and scientists knew very little about uranium 235. The plants needed to be run by machinery because the materials were ââ¬Å"radioactive, poisonous, violently corrosive, or all threeâ⬠(Gerdes 143). After scientists studied and became familiar with plutonium and uranium 235, they were able to begin the manufacturing process (Gerdes 91).

The Most Interesting Dream I’Ve Ever Had
THE MOST INTERESTING DREAM I'VE EVER HAD How many times did you ever dream of something so amazing that it's painful for you to wake up? How many times have your dreams surpassed your reality? when our eyelids are heavy and midnight hush falls upon us, we never know what corners of our life and or dream will drift off to, I usually remember my dreams vividly; Sometimes they are totally waked out.My dreams often take place in an alternate reality in which I'm the only constant and every one else is unfamiliar but often I'm able to make into some meanings behind them. A while ago I experienced which might just prove to be THE MOST INTERESTING DREAM I'VE EVER HAD, I dreamed that I was in my car we where going to the home; in our way I saw a poor old ladyâ⬠¦ well she was begging for money. I don't know why I jumped of the car, pulled her to the see and tried to drown her, but she survived. When I got off the sea, I saw cameras' all around meâ⬠¦ and an interviewer man coming toward s me, he was asking me ââ¬Å"HOW DID YOU DO IT? ââ¬Å", and I was like ââ¬Å"DO WHAT? â⬠the only thing I remember is that they where so proud of me! After a while, I saw the same poor, old lady that I've tried to drown coming towards me holding a knife, I thought to my self ââ¬Å"I'M GONNA DIEâ⬠. As she came closerâ⬠¦ I just move one step backward until she reached me and was going to kill me! but then two bodyguards came and stopped her.First I didn't know why they stopped her but then I discovered that I was paid million of Dollars because I've tried to drown that lady! I was so happy when I knew thatâ⬠¦ I was so excited ! but then I woke up and knew it was just a dream! it was the most interesting dream I've ever had because it's like doing something bad and getting a prize for it. This moment probably ensured a few seconds as it flashed through the neutrons of my brain, but the memory of it may last for a life time !

What Is the Moon Made Of Chemical Composition
The Earths moon is similar to the Earth in that it has a crust, mantle, and core. The composition of the two bodies is similar, which is part of why scientists think the moon may have formed from a large meteor impact breaking off a piece of the Earth while it was still forming. Scientists have samples from the surface, or crust, of the moon, but the composition of the inner layers is a mystery. Based on what we know about how planets and moons form, the core of the moon is believed to be at least partly molten and likely consists primarily of iron, with some sulfur and nickel. The core is likely small, accounting for just 1-2% of the moons mass. Crust, Mantle, and Core The largest portion of the Earths moon is the mantle. This is the layer between the crust (the part we see) and the inner core. The lunar mantle is believed to consist of olivine, orthopyroxene, and clinopyroxene. The composition of the mantle is similar to that of the Earth, but the moon may contain a higher percentage of iron. Scientists have samples of the lunar crust and take measurements of properties of the moons surface. The crust consists of 43% oxygen, 20% silicon, 19% magnesium, 10% iron, 3% calcium, 3% aluminum, and trace amounts of other elements, including chromium (0.42%), titanium (0.18%), manganese (0.12%), and smaller amounts of uranium, thorium, potassium, hydrogen, and other elements. These elements form a concrete-like coating called regolith. Two types of moon rocks have been collected from the regolith: mafic plutonic and maria basalt. Both are types of igneous rocks, which formed from cooling lava. The Moons Atmosphere Although it is very thin, the moon does have an atmosphere. The composition is not well known, but it is estimated to consist of helium, neon, hydrogen (H2), argon, neon, methane, ammonia, and carbon dioxide, with trace amounts of oxygen, aluminum, silicon, phosphorus, sodium, and magnesium ions. Because conditions contrast sharply depending on the hour, the composition during the day may be somewhat different from the atmosphere at night. Even though the moon has an atmosphere, it is too thin to breathe and includes compounds you wouldnt want in your lungs. Learn More If youre interested in learning more about the moon and its composition, NASAs moon fact sheet is a great starting point. You may also be curious about how the moon smells (no, not like cheese) and the difference between the composition of the Earth and its moon. From here, notice the difference between the composition of the Earths crust and the compounds found in the atmosphere.

Listing of Atlantic 2016 Hurricane Names
Below you will find the listing of hurricane names for the Atlantic Ocean for the year 2016. For every year, there is a pre-approved list of tropical storm and hurricane names. These lists have been generated by the National Hurricane Center since 1953. At first, the lists consisted of only female names; however, since 1979, the lists alternate between male and female. Hurricane Naming Conventions Hurricanes are named alphabetically from the list in chronological order. Thus the first tropical storm or hurricane of the year has a name that begins with A and the second is given the name that begins with B. The lists contain hurricane names that begin from A to W, but exclude names that begin with a Q or U. There are six lists that continue to rotate. The lists only change when there is a hurricane that is so devastating, the name is retired and another hurricane name replaces it. Thus, the 2016 hurricane name list is the same as the 2010 hurricane name list but after the 2010 hurricane season, there may be changes to the list if names are retired so check back after the 2010 hurricane season. 2016 Hurricane Names AlexBonnieColinDanielleEarlFionaGastonHermineIgorJuliaKarlLisaMatthewNicoleOttoPaulaRichardSharyTomasVirginieWalter

There are many issues within Canada but, these are Essays
There are many issues within Canada but, these are the main ones. The Housing Market situation is getting worse with the prices going up, many people can not afford these houses. With these issues resolved Canada will become much better. Clear Cut Logging allows us to cut down tons of trees in one area and reseed it. However, this creates a problem for humans since it releases tons of carbon emissions and will create a bad environment for kids. Urban Sprawl makes it so that low density places become high density but creates many deficits can can impact youth and local businesses. The issue is getting worse and needs to be fixed. WHERE IS IT HAPPENING AND WHY THERE? The Housing Market is everywhere but the issue about it is the increase of prices and how people can't afford them. The CMAs of Canada are the main culprits for this, for example, Toronto has an average of around one million dollars to buy a detached home downtown. It's happening because the prices are increasing faster than wages. Making it so that, people are just not able to pay the one million dollars for a detached home. Another reason for this, is that the mortgage banks are making it so that they can create money by inputting numbers in their database instead of getting the money from savers to improve their profit output. Most people's jobs are in Toronto and they need to move further away so that they can have a place to stay. The housing market may crash quicker than most anticipated because of how rapid the prices are rising, then everyone would be losing out on money. This is why people need to start working on a way to fix it. WHO ARE THE MAJOR STAKEHOLDERS INVOLVED AND WHAT'S THEIR STANCE ON THE ISSUE? There are four main stakeholders involved in this, the buyers, the sellers, the realtors. The buyers are not able to buy homes, which is a huge problem for them since they need a place to stay. Even if they are able to afford the home it would be small and would need some work done. That would make pockets empty with no cash for people to spend on the important things in life like food and water. Without the buyers the sellers are in even more trouble. With the decline of buyers and more people leaning towards the condo and apartment life, the sellers have no where to go to. If they are selling the house to be able to move into another home than the house would have to be sold by the time they are supposed to move in or else, they'd be paying for two mortgages. The average time to sell a detached house within Toronto that needs approximately $100,000-$200,000 of work on it takes about "1-2 months" said by Neshan Gunaratnam from Relmax Ace Realty Inc. On the topic of of realtors, they are a major stakeholder since they are the ones selling the homes. If they don't sell the homes they get no commission. Also, if more and more people are trying to sell their homes but there's no buyers the realtors lose out on even more money since they are putting up the ads and posting posters with their own money to get the home sold. These three stakeholders need the market to change so that they are able to not worry about the market crash. WITH WHICH POINT OF VIEW OF THE STAKEHOLDERS ARE YOU MOST SYMPATHETIC TO? WHY? The stakeholder that I feel the most sympathetic to are the buyers. I feel that way because of they have no positives for the market being expensive. The sellers are going to sell their homes eventually for a high price. They have a place that they can call their own. The realtors are going to be able to get their commissions making them able to make their payments on time. However, the buyer doesn't have many options they either have to buy a good home that is a 3-hour drive away from where they work or pay so much to live in a low quality home near their work. If the amount is
